Vehicular Juxtaposition
While on a day excursion to Kyoto in March, I happened upon this interesting scene in the area around Kiyomizudera Temple. There I was, milling around with friends, snapping tourist-y shots of girls in kimono strolling cobblestone avenues in one of the most antiquated quarters of what is arguably one of the most traditional cities in Japan, and suddenly this shiny yellow Camaro SS rounds a corner right past the human-powered antithesis to itself, a jinrikisha, often referred to in the West as a “rickshaw.”
Camaro SS = 400 horsepower. Jinrikisha = 1 manpower.
京都は楽しいね!
